Currently there are 5 Consultant led multidisciplinary teams in the National Forensic Mental Health Service Each consultant-led team includes one secretary, one senior registrar, one junior doctor (registrar grade), one psychologist, one social worker, one community nurse and one occupational therapist, unit –based nursing and care staff..
An enhanced programme of nursing ,psychological and occupational interventions at the Central Mental Hospital in addition to prison clinics and community follow-up contributes towards the active assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of all service users admitted.
Improved screening of new committals by prison nursing staff combined with added psychiatric out-patient clinics at the busiest prisons will reduce the levels of active psychiatric morbidity in the prisons. |
